USES:

Production method:

Magnesium nitrate is obtained by co-heating with acetic acid.

The magnesium nitrate and anhydrous acetic acid were heated together. After the reaction was terminated, the solution was boiled for another 20min.

Anhydrous magnesium acetate was precipitated after a long time of storage.

Filtrate, wash with a small amount of anhydrous ethanol, then wash with ether, dry at 60℃ in vacuum drying oven.

The crystals contain free acetic acid and should be dried for a long time until they are of constant weight.

Anhydrous magnesium acetate can also be obtained by heating magnesium acetate tetrahydrate to constant weight at 134℃.
