Allopurinol, an xanthine oxidase inhibitor, was obtained by cyclization of 3-amino-4-ethoxycarbonyl pyrazole with formamide.

Ethylenediamine was obtained by cyclization of ethylenediamine with ethylenediamine.

Methoxy - ethyl malonate is cyclized with formamide to obtain sulfonamides intermediate -5- methoxy -4,6- dihydroxypyrimidine disodium.
